Harumi was born in Osaka Japan and has her degree in Child Education from Daiichi College in Fukuoka Japan. She came to United States to study as an exchange student in Brattleboro, VT and later attended at Boston University 1982. She has lived in the United States for the past twenty years. Harumi worked for fifteen years at the Consulate General of Japan in Boston before changing her focus in life. She now spends her time between Arizona and Japan, where her parents reside. Her travels have taken her to Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and through most of Europe. Harumi attended cooking school and studied Italian during a three month stay in Italy.

Harumi has studied Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging) with a Master of Ikebana, (Keisen-Kai), from Japan. Harumi is a Master of Ikebana having received her Master name, “Sensho”. She is co-founder and president of Japenese Culture Club of Arizona (www.japenesecultureclubofaz.org)

Harumi has received her E-RYT 500 (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, with more than 2,000 hours of teaching experience ) through Yoga Alliance. It is the highest proficiency level in Yoga teaching recognized by the Yoga Alliance. She has been practicing yoga since 1994. Harumi is also Certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner.

Harumi spent a decade engaged in daily practice in mindfulness and spent many hours at intense silent meditation retreat mediation in temples and monastics. Afterwards, she began her yoga training in the Kripalu tradition E-500 hours later completed her initial teacher’s training in Hatha yoga. With hundreds of hours of classes, workshops, & teacher trainings in Yin Yoga, Prana Flow, & Phoenix Rising Yoga styles as well as certified Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist. Her instruction reflects the synthesis of all she has learned from these practices of inner awareness and conscious physical alignment and powerful heart-centered, meditative aspects of Kripalu Yoga.
